Please don’t fall into the “It will never happen to me” category. All radon levels can be reduced to acceptable levels with simple and well established venting techniques, and no, it’s not very expensive to mitigate if you find that your home has high radon levels. The American Society of Home Inspectors set the standards for home inspections. They typically look at these areas:
Basic structures like the floors, foundation, heating and cooling, roof and water leaks, drainage, paint and tile, plumbing, wiring, fireplace (if applicable).
After the inspection, you will receive a written report. If you are thinking of selling, you may want to have your home inspected so you can repair any defects prior to listing the home.

Pests like rodents and insects in your home are not only a nuisance, but can also cause considerable damage. Once they get indoors they can be difficult- and expensive – to remove. That’s why the best way to protect your home from these pests is to prevent them from entering in the first place. Here are some simple steps you can take.
Clean and vacuum regularly. A clean home is less enticing to pests so set up a schedule for weekly housekeeping chores.
Take care of food and garbage. Store food in tightly sealed containers. Never leave food out on counter tops or tables. Compost or use your garbage disposal when possible or wrap garbage before throwing away. Wash garbage cans regularly.
Reduce clutter. Piles of old papers, clothing or other accumulated materials are good breeding and hiding places for pests. Sort and discard what you can.
Seal possible entrances. Insects and even rodents do not need much room to enter your home. Inspect doorways and windows for cracks. Apply caulk and/or weather stripping where needed. Make sure window screens are in good condition.
