Finishing Touches

January 9, 2012 by Andy · Leave a Comment

  • It’s January. Have you started on those New Years resolutions yet? If not, here are a few pointers to get you started with your home design resolutions for 2012. Changes don’t have to be expensive to make an impact. Setting realistic goals that provide immediate gratification, such as painting an accent wall or clearing the clutter with home organization items can make a huge difference in your home immediately. Pushing a paintbrush can provide a dramatic improvement with a relatively small investment. Home owners are focusing on what needs to be done to update the home, instead of trying to move to a new home in this down economy. For instance tackling a new kitchen remodel, new cabinets and counter tops or updating  window treatments can transform your old house into a new showplace at a much more affordable price than getting into a new mortgage. Changing the recessed lighting to pendants over the sink area or kitchen island, changing out the cabinet hardware and installing a new tiled back splash are all swell ideas to update your kitchen. After all, it is the most used room in the house that everyone seems to gravitate to. Keep things simple and change things to keep designs current. Like a new area rug or throw pillows for the living room couch. People want their homes to reflect how they really live, so updates can make a world of difference without having to take a loss on selling your home. Repair/Replace/Restore
